In his fifth bid to host the finals and the first to organize a 48-team version, Morocco plans to host 12 stadiums, five of which will be ready now. Three more modern stadiums will be built, including the 93,000-seat Grand Casablanca stadium, the "long-awaited national stadium by the Moroccans," according to the Moroccan nomination file.
The United States-Canada-Mexico triumphed over 23 selected cities (including 4 Canadian cities and 3 Mexicans) and the final list includes 16 stadiums with a capacity of 68,000 spectators, "built and functional".
A five-member FIFA evaluation committee, including Deputy Secretary-General Marko Filiger and former Croatian international Zvonimir Boban, will go to the candidate countries and draw the two files, with the possibility of automatically excluding any file deemed inadequate.
"I have been evaluating candidacy files for more than 20 years in different positions, and I challenge anyone to find an organization that organizes a more objective, transparent and fair process," said Swiss International Federation president Gianni Infantino".
