Canada has seen an increase in the number of deaths associated with overdose in 2017, with some 4,000 people losing their lives, the Canadian Public Health Agency said on Tuesday.

A total of 2,923 people died of drug overdose during the first nine months of 2017, an increase of 45 percent over the same period last year.
