Larijani: Palestinian youth turned the Saudi project into a mirage

Ali Larijani, head of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Council, said that the heroic move of the Palestinian youth recently fighting over the Saudi project to mirage.

"The actions and statements of these Saudi officials are regrettable, but on the other hand, they are of course helping to uncover the real atmosphere," Larijani said in a speech at a meeting of the Majlis (parliament) on Sunday.

He accused "all countries in the region and the world of any malicious practices such as those carried out under the guise of statements demonstrating human and religious principles during the past years."

Larijani also criticized Saudi officials, saying that "they have provided much of the wealth of the Saudi Muslim population to the American agents who, instead of being suspicious of it, said that without American support the Persian Gulf countries would remain in two weeks."

The Iranian official said in response to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's acceptance of the right of the Jewish people to "own their own land."

The Saudi Crown Prince's remarks coincided with the "Great Return" rallies organized by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on the border with Israel, which killed more than 30 Palestinians and injured more than 1,500 others by the Israeli army.
