Russia launches new communications satellite early next year
Russia is determined to launch a new communications satellite in January 2019, said Nikolai Sevastyanov, chief designer of the Russian space program Gazprom.
"The Yamal-601 is being developed at the plant of Thales Alenia Space in Cannes," said Igor Kot, deputy director general of the project. "For its development, Spirbank Bank has provided loans worth 350 million euros."
"The moon is supposed to be completed by the end of this year and will be transferred to the Baikonur space station in preparation for its launch in January 2019."
The Yamal-601 is planned for 15 years in space, providing communications to all parts of Russia, CIS countries, Europe, the Middle East and parts of Southeast Asia.
