Police officer Nilanjan Pseuz said Subhprata Magumdar was arrested after his mother's body was found in a large freezer during a raid on his home in Kolkata.

Magumdar hid his mother's body three years ago at the age of 81 and continued to receive her monthly pension of 30,000 rupees, about $ 460.

Magumdar told police he had kept his mother's body because he believed she could return to life, the officer said.
